David Berg was born and raised not far from Puyallup and he and his wife, Dr. Carrie Wong, have made Puyallup their home since 2001. Soon they will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. David and Carrie raised three sons in Puyallup and each son attended public schools in the Puyallup School District. Their oldest son, Brady, graduated from Puyallup High School in 2017. Their middle son, Ethan, graduated from Puyallup High School in 2020. Their youngest son, Ayden, graduated from Puyallup High School in 2024.
First elected as a Puyallup School Board Director in 2021, David has been a School District Volunteer at Spinning, Stewart, Meeker, Kalles, and Puyallup High School. He’s been active in the PTA, often serving as Legislative Advocacy Chair. He’s coached T-Ball, Indoor and Outdoor Soccer, and Baseball at the YMCA, and was also a Baseball Coach in the Cal Ripken League. David is a very active advocate for education in the District, and with our State Legislators. He’s helped lobby to pass the legislative priorities of the PTA and helped to lead the legislative work of the Washington Coalition for Gifted Education. David has testified in Olympia in front of committees in the State House and State Senate many times and met with more legislators more times than he can count. He’s even been to Washington D.C. to meet with members of Congress to discuss education policy. During his time as a School Board Director, David has continued his advocacy, working with other Directors from across the state and testifying on issues related to the funding of special education services as a representative of WSSDA and the Puyallup School District. David has been actively involved in the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA), becoming the first Director from Puyallup to graduate from the year long Leadership WSSDA training program and currently serving WSSDA as a member of their State Conference Committee.
David is passionate about giving each child the opportunities they need to succeed. He’s demonstrated that commitment over the last four years and is eager to continue the work.
