David Berg is a school board director, longtime education advocate, and community
leader who has spent more than two decades working to strengthen public schools and
expand opportunities for students and families across Washington.
Born and raised in Washington, David attended public schools in Renton and graduated
from the University of Puget Sound. He began his career in information technology and
cybersecurity, where he developed a reputation for solving complex problems, building
trust across teams, and finding practical solutions in challenging environments.
After returning to Washington with his family, David became deeply involved in local
schools volunteering in classrooms, coaching youth sports, and serving in PTAs and
statewide advocacy organizations. He went on to lead the Washington Coalition for
Gifted Education, working with educators and lawmakers to improve access to highly
capable programs and strengthen support for students.
In 2021, David was elected to serve as a school board director, where he focused on
supporting students, improving transparency, and ensuring decisions reflect the needs
of a diverse and growing community.
David and his wife, a physician serving local families, are raising three sons, all
products of Washington public schools. His experiences as a parent, volunteer, and
elected leader shape his commitment to equitable schools, accountable government,
and expanding economic opportunity.
David is running for the Washington State Legislature to bring his collaborative
approach to Olympia listening to community voices, engaging early in policy
conversations, and working to build solutions that reflect the values and priorities of the
25th Legislative District.
